Lynn Johnston

Counsellor
As a fully qualified counsellor, therapist & clinical supervisor, I am experienced working with clients across the spectrum of ages, cultures, sexual orientation and religious backgrounds. In addition to working face to face with clients, I also offer telephone and online video therapy for both counselling and supervision, using Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

My specialist training & experience is with counselling children & young people, survivors of abuse (physical, sexual and emotional) & working with trauma, depression and anxiety. Appropriate therapy & support can be provided for survivors of abuse, both pre-trial counselling and post-trial counselling (child & adult), and those with experience of significant trauma, PTSD or helping clients with the ‘tough challenges’ that sometimes are overwhelming. I have worked with clients from 4 years to 74 years old.

I work in a collaborative, empathic and non-judgemental manner, offering an integrative approach across modalities such as person centred, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution focused and creative arts for those clients that find it helpful to explore troubling thoughts and feelings from a different perspective.

A member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychology (BACP), National Counselling Society (NCS) & British Psychological Society (BPS), I adhere to their ethical frameworks. See my website for a full list of qualifications & memberships.

Supervisor
In supervision I aim to provide a safe, empathic and non-judgemental space where issues can be discussed and considered openly.

I am able to provide supervision for all professions (counsellors, other supervisors, clinicians, teachers, police & public services, armed forces, social care etc..) and groups up to 13 members. External independent supervision can be a useful adjunct to organisations working with complex casework or high-pressure environments. Having a master’s in counselling children and young people and further qualifications in working with survivors of abuse, supervision for those working in these fields will be enriched. Supervision can also be by telephone or on-line, and group supervision sessions can be arranged if appropriate.

My supervision practice is based on the BPS structured and collaborative (SAC) principles.
